So if you have been tempted by this scam, please read our report before doing something that you might regret.
You may have seen this story on social media or perhaps you might have been sent an email or text link? Right now this scam is being promoted around the internet and before you get involved you should be fully aware of the risks!
Yet Another Fake News Website That Attempts To Fool You!
The image above may look like an average news heading that you might see on a daily basis. However, this one is very different. This heading not only supplies us with fake news, it tries to trick the reader into taking a risky financial gamble.
You will no doubt be quite familiar with the logo seen at the top of this image. The Mirror is a very famous news publisher in the UK with millions of readers. And it’s this logo and two very famous people that these scammers are currently using to try and lure you into a big scam.
This fake news story claims that Cristiano Ronaldo appeared on the Jonathan Ross show and began talking about a brand new investment opportunity with “limited” availability.
Indeed Cristiano Ronaldo did actually appear on the Jonathan Ross show, but there certainly was no mention of being involved with anything to do with Crypto Trading.
The “new automated trading platform” mentioned within this fake article is designed to scam people out of their hard earned money! Cristiano Ronaldo and Jonathan Ross have absolutely no connection with this at all!
The scammers have simply used famous names and reputation of The Mirror in an attempt to build trust with their potential victims.
The Crypto Group Scam!
This isn’t the first time we have seen this scam on the internet. A short time ago we reported yet another fake news story that claimed Sir Richard Branson was involved in the very same Crypto Trading “opportunity”.
What both of these fake news stories have in common is the fact that they both direct you to something called The Crypto Group.
How To Spot These Fake News Websites
We have seen a couple of these scams within the last couple of weeks, so no doubt there will be more to come. If you are in any doubt about a website that you have encountered, there is one very easy way to tell if its a fake.
Despite these news sites looking pretty real, they all have one thing in common. Every link, image and icon on the scam website will all link to the same place. The links or URL’s usually tend to be long and often don’t have anything to do with the story in question.
If you are using a PC it will be easy to see where the links are pointing, simply move your mouse over the images, social media icons and other news articles on the page. If they all lead to the same URL, then there’s a good chance that its a scam website.
Here’s an example from one of the scam websites that we found.
If you have seen another version of this scam, please feel free to report it to us in the comments section so that we can spread the word.
How The Crypto Group Scam Works
Both of the fake news websites that we have seen lately link to the Crypto Group Scam. Once the victim is intrigued by the famous celebrities, they are led into a story that aims to convince them to part with £250.
This is an old trick that has been used many times in the past. The reader is told that if they “invest” their money into the automated trading system, they will rapidly make profit, often within minutes. There are many versions of this too. Recently we reviewed another system called Crypto Edge, which also used the same techniques.
These trading scams are nothing but high risk gambling systems, designed to take as much money from you as possible.
Once you invest your money into the system, it’s all over. The trading software will randomly trade your money until your funds run out. At this point you will be told that something went wrong and you should re-invest to try again.
Your Information Could Also Be At Risk!
Online trading doesn’t just risk your money, it cal also risk your personal details too. Most of these trading companies insist that you send them proof of identity. This can involve providing full address details, email and telephone number. Some online trading companies even insist that you supply photo I.D. too.
This can be incredibly risky, as many online trading platforms are not even regulated.
Is Crypto Currency A Complete Scam?
Whilst there are many online scams based around this type of trading, there are a few good ways to make money in the Crypto market. If you would like to see a legitimate method of making money with Crypto Currency, I would suggest looking at this alternative.
